Terrifying appraisal in __S

After having worked/spent/lived in IT sector for around 10 years, this is my prediction on how the internal-fighting would occur in __S over survival of employees after laying off the employees who are characterized as average performers using a illogical appraisal process. And, this is not to hurt any employees, just to convene that internal- competition is healthy but not internal-fighting for survival. Motivation of this article is to enable the employees and __S management to think about the current situation because of the greedy-profit-centric approach of __S management. Hence, LAUGH, THINK AND ACT.

Pre-Appraisal

  • Employees hired an advertising agency to help with the appraisal process, hence advertising agencies have started a special unit.
  • In general, 5000 characters can be used to explain each attribute in the appraisal process. All the employees raised concerns stating there should be no limit.
  • Employees have taken all the available certificates in the market it includes Greek and Latin language also
  • To show up the flexibility, employees have started cleaning the campus and gardening as well.
  • Dependency, the word, employees just love it. Employees want to create dependency in all kinds of work including Fire-drill coordinator, gardening, and cab driving … etc. all supporting activities.
  • QA session- QA session went on and on for 2 hours but the core presentation itself meant for half an hour.
  • To prove commitment hard work, employees have stopped going home, working for 24 hours. Have no time to sleep and to freshen-up also.
  • IEEE association receives a white paper from every __S employee. It means that around 3, 00,000 white papers every month. These white papers includes artificial intelligence , how to clean the laptop and tactics of feeding food to the kids in 10 minutes
  • IT employees’ kids are writing mails to the respective mangers on how their dads and moms are working hard at home to perform the office work. In fact, Kids help the parents.
  • IT managers’ kids are pampered at school by IT employee’s kids for better appraisal for their mom/dad.
  • An employee takes 10 hours to discuss one point. No lunch break, tea break and rest-room break. Employee still wants to discuss the same point further. And, ten more new points to discuss. This is just for one employee.
  • Employees have bribed the managers for better rating; __S had made it official for more profit. Bribes include flats, lands and cars.
  • Managers could not go through the explanation documented by employees for each attribute as each attribute goes down for minimum 10 pages, still could not identify the maximum number. Hence, it has been restricted to 500 characters. This is not applicable for managers.
  • As managers’ lives are at threat over appraisal discussion, __S management has banned the discussion.
  • __S management is taking the statistics of pregnant female employees. Male employees claim their wives are also pregnant and further male employees have petitioned the government to intervene in this issue.
  • BELL curve fitting is the huge challenge; managers are wondering that should they give top rating for pregnant women.
  • Smile/laugh went very far from associates; HR has conducted a competition of smiling/laughing. HR has failed to the core. It is gloominess everywhere.

During-Appraisal

Post-Appraisal

  • Managers’ kids were kidnapped demanding better rating.
  • Employee has committed suicide fearing low rating.
  • Employee had killed the manager for not listening to the success story of self.
  • Managers are advised not to go alone in office and outside also.
  • The employee has disappeared all of a sudden. Police is searching the person across relative’s houses, temples and bus stands across India as this employee was not having valid passport. His family member’s doubt the reason as he was recommended for promotion by __S management. Police is investigating in this perspective as well.
  • No Employee wants the promotion. Everyone thinks her/his counterpart is eligible for the promotion. One employee mentioned that the word promotion depresses self.
  • Employees are discussing with HR for getting de-promoted.
  • HR is promoting the employees who don’t perform up to the expectation. Employees suggest that this is the tactical approach for demotivating an employee.
  • Employees who are forced with promotion claim that it is a conspiracy. Government should intervene immediately.
  • Employees who are forcefully promoted searching for a future in the following dimensions
    • Cab driver
    • Teaching
    • PG business
    • Beautician courses
    • Hotel business

Promotion

In General

  • Job-fair is being conducted within the campus. Other IT companies also invited. All the IT companies welcomed this idea as per the latest media report.
  • Managers were protected with Z section security guards.
  • Employees are doing part time work in the manager’s residence.
  • __Sers have stopped taking leaves. 100% attendance. __Sers wanted to work on holidays as well.
  • Freshers have become gurus. Freshers lead the team with 5 team members. All the team members have 10 years of experience on average.
  • Line of medical is flourishing like anything including psychologist and psychiatrist
  • Flats/ houses/ lands bought by ITians had been auctioned as they could not pay the EMI
  • Real estate has seen a tragedy. No buyers.
  • AC buses plying always empty across OMR.
  • Hotels started in OMR had been closed.
  • Cab drivers lost the business
  • Share autos have stopped functioning.
  • Maids of IT employees, Hotel owners, cab drivers, pub owners and Banking authorities protested for IT union.
  • __S management has not realized the value of teams, living and delivering as teams, teams have turned down as a group.
  • No more associates, all are employess.
  • In the matrimonial process, __S associates had to submit the appraisal ratings along with the health certificate and horoscope.
