Sub : Regarding the illegal mass terminations of Verizon Data Services India, a subsidiary of Verizon of US.

Respected Madam,
As per the media news Times of India / Business Standard today, it has been reported that Verizon Data Services is doing mass job cut. The mass job cut is planned out as result of their business transformation to survive at the backdrop of evolving technology and competitive market. It is known from the media news that Verizon is changing the focus of Verizon Data Services into engineering-centric and technology organization. This business transformation has impact on head count in the organization. VDS has planned to retain Employees with required skill sets of future business needs only.
Currently VDS management is forcing the employees to resign from the company by getting signatures in the resignation papers and giving some compensation. The employees are not given proper notice period and explanation for the mass job cut. We hear that the employees escorted by securities to leave the office premises. Verizon Data Services India has around 7000 employees in Chennai and Hydrabad. As the VDS management has not disclosed the how many employees are affected in their business transformation process, employees are in panic.
So, on behalf of Forum for IT Employees – Tamilnadu, we request you to immediately intervene in this issue to protect the VDS employees from illegal terminations.

Parimala

President,

Forum for IT Employees – Tamilnadu,
