Hi, TCS at it again. Now all senior appraisals i.e C4 and above is done by vertical head and not immediate supervisor. This is again a new process set only now. This is being implemented from next monday.

C4 rating in TCS means more than 15 years of experience.. I guess they were already been appraised by Vertical head. this does not mean this fair appraisal. We might give a bit of credibility to all the appraisal system when it done in 360 degree manner .Does TCS or like have the guts to bring this process in place ? if they will how would they manage to bring a bell curve which is intrinsically related with the company. How Mr. Chandra can justify the existing ‘C’ is good now ? does any one wants to get C now? Please run this survey . Thanks

To me it is not a fair process.not sure of other companies as I am with tcs from beginning. kind of forced rating and encouraging for unhealthy environment among employees kind of bla bla…
All seniors C4 and above will take B and E. remaining employees will share the remaining C. poor calm people will be scapegoats to get D.E is totally exceptional cases like fights or work impacted by some blunder etc.

BELL curve is nothing but HELL curve always for laid-off employee like me. while the bell curve and the appraisal had more positive nature initially but these days it is being used as sword to kill our career. fraud company like TCS uses the appraisal as a device to control and force the people for its own company profit. it helps the immature managers (most of them and thats why they stagnate in that position) to perform a foulplay with the people they dont like, it helps to stop the promotion so that people leave or work with the same salary and no other motivation too.
appraisal is being used to point out what an employee HAS NOT DONE rather than measuring what he HAS DONE(despite project deadlines and pressure upto the neck). observing someone for his good doings is a tough one whereas finding fault is easy which is why managers take the easy role and
secure their position very well.
i took a worthless manager to some worthless HR discussion one time as he was crossing the limits, where with great difficulty i had to prove that the manager is incapable of managing. the manager was thrown out of the project and i didnt want to be in that project since there was no change in the rating. but the one question remained open as why was the manager made to do my appraisal when he himself is not capable and why didnt the HR make attempt to change the rating or for re-assessment (i guess she wants to do easy job too and pick her bag at 5:30pm and leave, why to bother about others impact).
the appraisal should be abolished or 360 degree should come in place and slap it back to the management.

There is a book named the Black Swan.
It talks of the bell curve as a intellectual fraud.
Please read chapters 1, 2, and 15 of this book.

Can a person who can bell the CAT, secure entry into all the top three IIMs get D and C bands?
Think about it.
